Proofs We require a hard color copy of your job before processing your files.
Supported Applications The magazines are created in QuarkXpress. We support layout applications for Macintosh. Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, PageMaker 6, Macromedia FreeHand and QuarkXpress.
We do not accept other files!
Preparing Your Files Make sure your files are clean and simple. The simpler the file, the quicker the job can be output.
Trapping should be set on all files to avoid white gaps in printing where colors meet. In Adobe Illustrator and FreeHand, standard trap is .35 points. Trap type and artwork manually as needed. Set black type to overprint.
In QuarkXpress set the trapping value to .144 and check default trapped items.
Please include every image of your job. Pre-flight will assure every image you have used is collected. Please do not embed images in your document. We can only troubleshoot linked images. Delete any linking files that are no longer needed in your layout file. Avoid covering graphics, images or type with white boxes. Do not rename a linked file after saving the layout file.
Set all colors to preview and separate in CMYK. All PMS colors are converted to CMYK before processing.
We recommend making blends with CMYK colors also.
Full Pages with Bleed Set your full page document to equal the trim size (8.375 x 10.875) plus 1/4 inch beyond the trim size on all sides.
Fonts To assure your files will output correctly, please include a copy of all the fonts used in your files, including fonts used in linked eps files. Include both the screen and postscript fonts.
Making a font bold or italics by applying it in the application menu could cause a type substitution and result in additional output charges. Select the specific font face you want to use instead.
Placed Graphics Convert RGB files to CMYK mode before placing the image. RGB files will not separate correctly.
Preferred dpi for all images is 266 dpi. 72 dpi files are unacceptable for 266 line screen printing.
Use only EPS files (with DCS off and Binary Encoding selected) or TIFFs (With LZW compression off) only.
Using GIF, JPEG or other files formats could result in additional charges.
When placing a graphic element in Adobe PageMaker, choose NO when prompted to include a complete copy in the publication.
