ADVERTISING SPECS

Preparing Your Ad Files for Printing

PROOFS

•	We require a hard color copy or PDF file of your advertisement before processing your submitted files.

SUPPORTED FILES

•	Our magazines are created using QuarkXpress for Macintosh. We can support the following layout programs: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, InDesign and QuarkXpress. We do not accept other file types. *Hi-Res PDF files are our preferred format.*

FONTS

•	To assure your files will output correctly, please include a copy of all fonts used in your files, including fonts used in linked EPS files. Include both the screen and postscript fonts.

•	Making a font bold or italic by applying it in the application menu could cause a type substitution and result in additional output charges. Select the specific font face you want to use instead.

PLACED GRAPHICS

•	Convert RGB files to CMYK mode before placing the image. RGB files will not separate correctly.

•	Preferred dpi for all images is 266 dpi or greater. 72 dpi files are unacceptable for 266 line screen printing.

•	Use only EPS files (with DCS off and Binary Encoding selected) or TIF files (with LZW compressing off). Using GIF, JPEG or other files formats could result in additional charges.

•	Please include all linked images when sending an Adobe Illustrator, InDesign or QuarkXpress document.

SENDING FILES

•	Customers can furnish digital files on disc (CD or DVD only.)

•	Email files smaller than 10mb to: design@mountaindreams.info

•	Request our FTP information to upload files larger than 10mb.

•	Full Page + Bleed – 8.875 x 11.875 (includes .25" bleed on all 4 sides) (trim size is 8.375 x 10.875)

•	Full Page No Bleed – 7.375 x 9.875

•	2/3 Page Horizontal – 7.375 x 7

•	2/3 Page Vertical – 4.42 x 9.875

•	1/2 Page Horizontal – 7.375 x 4.86

•	1/2 Page Vertical – 4.42 x 7.25

•	1/3 Page Horizontal – 7.375 x 2.6

•	1/3 Page Vertical – 2.42 x 9.875

•	1/3 Page Square – 4.375 x 4.85

•	1/4 Page Horizontal – 7.375 x 2.3

•	1/4 Page Vertical – 3.55 x 4.85

•	1/6 Page Horizontal – 4.42 x 2.25

•	1/6 Page Vertical – 2.25 x 4.5

BLEED SIZE

•	The bleed size of our full page is 8.875" x 11.375", which includes a quarter inch bleed on all four sides. This bleed is included to account for the trimming of the magazine at the printer. Assume that anything inside the bleed area WILL GET TRIMMED OFF.

AD TRIM SIZE

•	The ad trim size is 8.375" x 10.875". This is the size of our printed publication.

LIVE IMAGE AREA

•	The live image area is 7.875" x 10.375". Make sure that all text and graphics are contained in this area. It ensures there is enough space around your ad to account for gutter space and readability.
